The Roswell Daily Record® has released information about a fatal 2-vehicle collision that occurred on the Relief Route outside Roswell, New Mexico at about 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 8, 2021. According to a press release by the New Mexico State Police, a 76-year-old Roswell man drove an ATV into an intersection and failed to yield for unknown reasons. As a result, he was hit by a 2015 Western commercial vehicle.

Sadly, the Office of the Medical Investigator pronounced the driver of the ATV dead at the scene. The 51-year-old truck driver from Albuquerque was not injured. Authorities do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Due to the accident, which occurred at the intersection of the Relief Route and West Country Club Road, multiple segments of the road were closed. West Country Club Road was closed between Sycamore Avenue and Peaceful Valley Road, and the Relief Route was closed between West College Boulevard and West Berend Road.
